Epilepsy:
• Epilepsy is a brain disorder
• It leads to repeated seizures and convulsions
Symptoms to look for:
• Stiffening of muscles
• Mild or vigorous shaking of arms and legs
• Patient appears to be staring in some direction
• Accidental urination
• Unconsciousness
• Patient may cry or make noise
• Vomiting
• Drooling
• Memory loss
Causes:
• The brain sends electrical impulses which control muscle movements
In epilepsy, excessive electrical impulses are sent out by the brain
• This leads to stiffening of the muscles which causes jerking reactions
• The seizure stops when the brain stops sending these impulses
Natural home remedy using ash gourd and liquorice powder:
1. Ash gourd is considered as one of the best remedies for seizures
2. Take 1 bowl of crushed ash gourd
3. Press it on a sieve and extract its juice
4. Add 3 tsp liquorice powder
5. Mix well
6. Drink once a day
Natural home remedy using milk and garlic:
1. Take 100 ml milk
2. Add 100 ml water
3. Pour in a vessel
4. Allow the mixture to boil for 10-15 min
5. Crush 4-5 garlic cloves
6. Press on a sieve and extract garlic juice
7. Add it to the milk mixture
8. Mix well
9. Drink once a day
Tips:
• A common myth is that during a seizure one may swallow his tongue, however this is not true
• Avoid putting anything in the mouth of the patient during a seizure attack
